2000

Twenty-second in the series by Barry McCuan. Noted for his compelling landscapes, McCuan captures the special essence of ballooning over the mesas of New Mexico. The pilots float their crafts in serene silence through nature's raw majesty. The dry desert air renders the sky a deep blue as it bakes the earthen clay into rich reds, yellows and ochres. The unseen sun glints off the colorful envelopes of man's most primitive flying machines. McCuan traces his earliest influences to the Taos Founders, pioneering artists who made Taos their home at the turn of the last century. For this commission McCuan updated his signature impressionism, making it more muscular and direct, reminiscent of the style prevalent in the 1930's.

Published as a limited-edition serigraph in an artist-signed edition of 1,250 numbered prints and a numbered unsigned edition of 2,500. 24" X 34".
