Singular Editions II: Unique American Posters |
Although ProCreations was primarily interested in publishing poster series, it occasionally accepted commissions for events that were likely to be staged only once or for institutions that needed a
defining image. The former category includes the Orlando Kool Jazz Festival and New Orleans' La Fete - New Orleans Summer Celebration. Both events wilted in the heat, but resulted in remarkable art. Jean Welch crafted her full spectrum
print using only five color plates; etching each of these by hand using her eye to break down each element into it's component primary colors. La Fete gave ProCreations the chance to publish a portrait of jewellery designer Paloma
Picasso as a child by her mother, Francoise Gilot. The artist Remarques of this print are each full-size, unique and magnificent drawings. "Le Train Bleu" celebrates the see-and-be-seen restaurant in New York's fashionable
Bloomingdale's Department Store. "Living in New Orleans" was done for the Preservation Resource Center. It is a tour de force compression of two centuries of architectural style seen along the elegant St. Charles Avenue in New
Orleans. |
