In 1983, the organizers of the Los Angeles Summer Olympics approached ProCreations about creating a graphics program for the '84 Summer Games. Laura Smith, now a highly acclaimed graphic artist and
designer, was just beginning her career in New York at the time. ProCreations commissioned her to create a series of moderne images celebrating the simple, elegant strength of the individual athlete. After Smith had created three such
images, and before they could even be presented to the Olympic Committee, the organizers cancelled the project. ProCreations removed the Olympic name and symbols from the art and published the prints pictured below. |
